According to Goal.com, Roma star Kostas Manolas has agreed personal terms with Inter ahead of a potential summer move. “The 25-year-old, who is regarded as one of Europe’s best centre-backs, has agreed in principle to a five-year contract that will see him earn around €4.5 million a season at San Siro. Roma have been attempting to extend Manolas’ €1.8m a year contract for several months now but have grown increasingly frustrated at their lack of progress”, the website reports.

Currently, the obstacle appears to be the €44 million asking price Roma have slapped on the Greek defender, but that figure is unlikely to deter Inter’s new Chinese owners. The defender will definitely leave the capital side in the summer as his contract expires in 2019 and Roma would not risk letting his price tag drop next year.

There is stiff competition for his signature, notably from Paris Saint-Germain, who tried to sign him 2 years ago. The Parisian side however are not willing to pay the €44 demanded by Roma.

“Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of Manolas and put him on his shortlist of potential centre-backs to sign last summer before the club eventually captured David Luiz from PSG”, Goal.com adds.

Manolas joined Roma from Olympiakos for €15m in 2014 and has since made over 100 appearances for the Stadio Olimpico side.
