Federico Dimarco

In anticipation of the upcoming match between Inter and Empoli, FcInterNews.it interviewed Federico Dimarco, product of the Inter youth academy currently on loan at Empoli.

How is the season going?
“The season is going well. Maybe I was expecting to play more, because I’m training well. But I say this without controversy, because I knew that if I went to the Serie B I would have probably played all the matches. I chose the hard way to see how I would fare.”

In hindsight, are you happy with the choice you made?
“No doubt. I had to do it because staying at Inter I would not find space. Of course the transition from Serie A to B makes you realize the change of pace is very different. Last year I could afford to make a mistake once, in the top division there is no mistake allowed”.

The goal is to return to Inter?
“I read in the news that in January I would return to Inter and obviously I did not. I would like to return one day. Like all the guys who go away on loan. But now I think to do well here, then if Inter want me back I will be very happy, otherwise I will continue my career elsewhere. ”

Last summer you played a final of the European Under 19 championship. How would you rate the huge difference in attendance among professionals that existed between Italy and your opponents France?
“In Italy each team aims to win. It’s the same goal for a team like Lyon, for example, but they are also targeting growth of their youth players. Empoli is a special place in this sense, here there are lots of young players, some last year managed to emerge like Paredes or Zielinski and are now playing at Rome and at Napoli. I came here for my personal growth. It is clearly not normal that after six months in  Serie B at Ascoli a Serie A team calls you to play for them”.

Sunday you will return to the Meazza, due to the absences you are likely to start. How are you living this week?
“At 90% I should play. When I saw that Pasqual was hurt last match I really did not know what he had, in any case I’m living with great serenity. I have nothing to fear, it is a football game. clearly it’s a great feeling to play against the team who raised you. ”

You play with the jersey of Empoli against who you debuted in A after the first match in the Europa League. Tell us how it went?
“In Europa League was all very nice, we were two or three youngsters in the first team, but did not expect to play. I remember doing well, then I became part of the first team and made my debut in the league. ”

You have also went to the summer training camp with the team, and a friendly against Bayern Munich…
“That was a tough match against Douglas Costa. But it was also a great experience. ”
