Inter have conceded a mere three goals in their last nine Serie A matches, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
The Nerazzurri’s new-found defensive solidity has been key to their rise up the standings since Stefano Pioli took charge.
Considering that 14 goals were conceded during Frank De Boer’s 11-match reign, Pioli’s rejuvenation of Inter’s defence becomes even more impressive.
In fact, the team only scored 13 goals in those same 11 matches.
Now, the team appears to have found the right balance which means the defence is suffering much less than before.

Pioli has been really impressive. Even after conceding so much with De Boer, he turned it around and we’re 3rd best defense in the league overall. Probably first or second in the time Pioli has been with us.

In 3-4-3, there’s no wingbacks. Wingbacks are commonly used in shitty 3-5-2. Anyway, in my opinion D’Ambrosio doesn’t have place in midfield by 3-4-3. I can accept the exception against Juventus, because he’s job was to stop Cuadrado. But now he’s useless in that position, because he can’t contribute with almost nothing in attack. D’Ambrosio is decent, only as a right back or in three man defense, if it’s needed.
I think that Medel is the key to this result.
