Ronaldo spoke to ESPN Brazil on how his move to Inter came about: “I had reached an agreement for the renewal with Barcelona. Then a week after the agreement, the Barcelona president and my agent had a word. They said that the agreement was absurd and that if a club had paid the clause, Barcelona would accept. At the time I think it was $29 million. The president was Nunez and Gaspart was the director of sport. It was not my fault, it would have been great to stay at Barcelona, the city is wonderful and Barcelona is a great club. The Italians are specialists in defending. I arrived in Italy during the best years of the Italian league, there were so many strong teams, even Roma and Parma.

He also addressed the infamous haircut from the 2002 World Cup: “I had a groin injury before the World Cup semifinals. I was worried about playing at 60% so I decided to cut my hair so strange, so everyone would speak about the haircut and would stop talking about my injury.”
