Torino defender Antonio Barreca‘s agent spoke with TuttoNapoli.net on the apparent interest shown in his client by both Napoli and Inter: “I’m not in talks with Napoli nor with Inter. I don’t know anything about him being close to the Azzurri, the transfer window is over and it is too soon for these matters. Maybe Napoli is interested, but Barreca is under contract at Torino till 2021, so at the moment we are talking about nothing.”

Young, but VERY interesting and super talented player! He is technically very strong, has a great cross with his superb left foot and has speed like a young Nagatomo!
If we can’t find an agreement with Wolfsburg over Rodriguez, which shouldn’t be a problem, but it seems like it’s becoming one, we should get Barreca. He reminds me of a young Santon with his pace and determination to win the ball, and I think he has better potential going forward because as you said, he is very strong technically, especially at making those one on one dribbles to beat a defender to get into the box for a cross, similar to what we see from Perisic.
Like him very much, but frankly we need a ready class act left full back because we already have 2 super talented left full backs in Miangue and Dimarco… But he surely is very interesting!
Agreed, but Barreca isn’t too far off from being ready. If next year we’re still stuck with Ansaldi at left back, I don’t see Barreca having any problem taking the starting spot from him.
No he beats Anseldi and Naga every time of the week, no doubt about that… but 22 for Rodriguez is a steal
Yea, it really is. Do you think signing both Rodriguez and Barreca, if we could somehow qualify for CL and offload at least Ansaldi, would be overkill for next season?
I think a return of Dimarco and Rodriguez joining is much more realistic… maybe we could secure him and leave him in Torino for a year to grow…
I was thinking Rodriguez and Dimarco would be a great 1,2 without CL, but with CL I’d like more experienced cover for Rodriguez.
Not sure the young lad from Torino has more experience than Dimarco… isn’t it barreca’s 1.season in Serie a too?
Yes it is, I guess experienced isn’t the proper word: I suppose seasoned is more accurate? Essentially what I’m saying is having a player who is a couple of years older may help him adjust to the big pressures easier.
Yes I think that’s a good model, to have an older player to help out the younger talented player behind him. Like maybe Candreva could help out Berardi adjust to life in a huge club like Inter… Still, we have Dimarco who really is very talented too for left back.
After work yesterday I watched some highlights of Dimarco’s season thus far and he looks very good for his age, but still needs work defensively, particularly with his marking, but that comes with experience. His determination on the ball and his interceptions really impressed me, he has a great burst of acceleration which helps a lot. I’d say he is already just as good as Ansaldi, so I don’t see a problem with him being backup for Rodriguez next season at all. If anything I’d likely be worried he wouldn’t receive enough playing time if all works well with Rodriguez, who is the type that can play every competitive game.
Yes and Dimarco is only 19 years old which is very impressive plus a “true” homegrown Inter talent like Pinamonti is as well!
Right, keeping him and Pinamonti in the squad would allow us to sell Biabiany, Santon and/or Andreolli and still meet the new player requirements.
Yep… Still it seems like Andreolli will stay next season as well
Yea, I see no reason he shouldn’t, he’s a pretty reliable role player.
He is and he loves Inter and is a Inter youth product so why not
