Stefano Pioli has came under a lot of scrutiny for his tactics deployed against Roma having both Candreva and Perisic working twice as hard with defensive duties placed on top of their attacking ones which were hampered. Tuttosport detail it was an ineffective solution Pioli thought up in the absence of Miranda at the heart of the defence.

I can honestly say this was one instance where pioli made a bad choice he should had played 4-2-3-1 danilo kept salah queit he should had trust ansaldi or santon to cover the other flank brozo was terrible n looked lost but it all boils down to thefact the week before he choose to play both miranda n medel who both were 1 game away from suppension
It was a total failure.
This current Inter team greatly lacks goal scoring ability in midfield, so they cannot afford to play candreva and perisic in such withdrawn roles. They are 2 of the only players apart from icardi who are capable of scoring goals, so obviously they have to play up front every game.
“t was an ineffective solution Pioli thought up in the absence of Miranda at the heart of the defence.”
– Ehh… this solution with Perisic and Candreva as wing backs was not meant to solve the absence of Miranda but to solve the absence of quality full backs in the squad!
Still, I agree with Icardi being too isolated when we play our wingers that far from away from him..
