Stefano Pioli and Massimo rastelli have decided to fiedl the following 22 players in today’s Serie A fixture at the Stadio Sant’Elia in Cagliari.
Inter revert back to a 4-2-3-1 with Miranda returning after his suspension to join Gary Medel in the middle of the defence and Ever Banega being picked over Joao Mario playing just behind Inter captain Icardi up front.

Don’t get me wrong Mario is one of my favorite players. Just that for the trekuartista a player with Banega’s attributes is more suitable.
He can make those passes all the time, players like him, Sneijder, Xavi, Pirlo are just made for that you know.
I’m not saying Mario is bad in any way just that he’s better in other positions.
For me Brozovic/Kondogbia should stay out. Especially Brozovic because the most of the time he brings confusion rather than clarity to our play.
It’s more than clear, history tells it and now this time with Pioli.
U can’t play without a regista, trekuartista or whatever. Mazzarri has done this, has failed, Mancini has done this, has failed. A midfield full of muscles is just a poor choice.
Happy to see Pioli learning from his mistakes. Banega is not the best but he’s all we got. He should get resting time but rather than that he should always be in the lineup.

But Mario and Banega are not the same type of the player. It’s not like they carry out the same tasks.
Banega is a pure trekuartista like Sneijder was meanwhile Mario is a midfielder that plays everywhere,at both wings especially.

Gagliardini has finally found the net. We really missed a game like this where we used to have- a goal from a direct free kick (everyobody knew we had Adriano, Recoba, Cruz, Mihajlovic-to name only a few who were extremely good at this), a goal from distance by our midfielder (we had Stankovic, Cambiasso, in the past) and a penalty :). Next week, we must beat Atalanta so that we can surpass their position. Hopefully Lazio won’t win against Bologna. I thought Roma could have beaten Napoli but they were the one who were defeated. They just let Juventus stand firmly as usual. Roma and Napoli have been meant to challenge Juve for the last few years, but they didn’t have the mentality to grab the scudetto. Anyway, Belotti scored three goals against Palermo. I really want Inter to sign this kid. THIRD SPOT IS A MUST.

We played great overall. We were the better team in the first half, but shaky at the back, I think the first half result was fair. We put it into a higher gear in the second half, pressuring more and it paid off, swept Cagliari aside. Nice to see a high scoring away victory, even if against 2nd worst defense in Serie A. We have been exceedingly more dominating on the home pitch this season, with some lackluster away performances. Overall, 3 crucial points, especially due to hard upcoming schedule. I don’t think CL can be reached this season, but we should still fight for 4th position, if we slip up too much we might even finish without EL due to the number of top teams this season.
Great game by Perišić, Icardi and Banega. Most of the team played well to be honest, they just stood out. Ansaldi was our worst player IMO, but I may be biased because I don’t have a good opinion of him right now. I really love the depth and quality in our midfield right now, we have 5 players (Banega, Joao Mario, Brozović, Gagliardini, Kondogbia) who can all be starters. Another assist by Icardi, his 9th, meaning he is tied for top assister. Shows how much he has grown as a player. Add on top of it that he also scored 17 goals so far, he has really been one of the best players in the league. Medel has been working out great as a CB, stopped us from going behind early in the game. Perfect ending to the game with Gagliardini finally scoring his first goal, it was long overdue, really happy for him. As far as tactics and coach go, I REALLY hope Pioli sticks to 4 at the back, it’s day and night difference when comparing to the 3-4-2-1 he has been forcing lately.

When? First Pioli put Eder and Joao Mario, not Gabriel, despite that Candreva for another game was terrible! And even if Ansaldi wasn’t injured and Pioli thought to put Gabriel in, that would be for only 4-5 minutes, which is a shame! When Ansaldi came off, and Nagatomo came on, it was because Ansaldi was injured. Otherwise, some other player would come off, and maybe Gabigol or Pinamonti could play. Anyway, it was only a few mintues so it hardly matters.
