Tuttomercatoweb confirm Dutch reports from earlier today that Inter are edging closer to sign Stefan de Vrij.
According to the report De Vrij, who only has 12 months left on his current deal with Lazio, has agreed terms with Inter to bolster the Nerazzurri defence ahead of next season. The Dutchman seems unlikely to extend his stay with the Biancocelesti, will be a welcome addition given that both Gary Medel and Miranda’s contracts with Inter expire at the end of June 2018.
Furthermore, TMW report that Inter want to sign a big name defender, maybe even two so therefore a move to Inter for Roma’s Greek stopper Kostas Manolas cannot be excluded even if the De Vrij sign for the Nerazzurri.
I prefer our current MM duo rather than Manolas-DeVrij… let us settle for a while our back is settled (MM), Mid is settled (Kondo and Gaglia) Upfront is settled (Banega/JM, Perisic, Icardi, Candreva), let’s reinforce our weak area only on the wing backs and subs..

Stefan De Vrij. The most underrated Serie A defender. Strong like a rock, tall like a tower and consistent. I prefer him to Manolas any day. Manolas 40 million euros should be exchanged with two solid fullbacks. That would be enough since we still have Medel, Miranda and Murillo as center back. We do really need solid fullbacks.
The thing about De Vrji (who,by the way,is a starting XI for the Netherlands) which stands out the most is his toughness ,consistency ,elevation and perfect timing on the high balls.
He is one of the key players in this good Lazio tournament, because, I believe he is the best headballer in Serie A.
And that is a quality we sometimes lack defensively.
He is the kind of man you want to have when defending a result and the other team is crossing and getting a bunch of corner kicks.

this has to be BS. we already have Medel, Miranda (even thought their current contracts are up in June 2018), Andreoli, Murillo, and Rano will come back and we have trouble selling him, plus Yao Guy. i know we will be getting rid of some of those guys, and i would love to have De Vrij and Manolas next season but i just dont see it happening. we’ll see though. these days we are being linked with every damn player.
Rano will be sold in Premier League this time,since he is acually doing well there(!!)and he already said he wants to remain there and Andreolli ..well is Andreolli.
But you are right ,we do have 3 CB(two of which are not exactly “young”).
If you study De Vrji you find that he does have a quality which we often lack:
He is the best ,toughest headballer in Serie A.
He has the greatest timing up in the air.
it is going to be interesting to see what we end up doing. we for sure need the quality, and yes Miranda is not young anymore but overall he is still great and is a fantastic leader for our back line.
