The president of Juventus, Andrea Agnelli, spoke today at a press conference after the decision of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office to start to an investigation on the prosecutors in Turin on alleged contacts with Mafia bosses:
“Today, I was notified about the investigation of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. This case relates to myself, Dr. Francesco Calvo, at the time our director, Mr. Alessandro D’Angelo and Mr. Stefano Merulla.”
“This company, its employees and myself, have nothing to hide and nothing to be afraid of, and this is the reason why I am here today in front of you. We will defend ourselves, but I invite you to investigate this issue – I have never met up with Mafia bosses. Instead, I met with several groups of fans. If any of these characters have acquired a different role to justice, that is something I was not aware of at the time. Juventus cooperates and collaborates with the state, we have always been mentioned as positive example, but we can not replace the police.”
