Serie A will have four automatic group stage spots in the Champions League as of the 2018/19 season UEFA have today confirmed. The Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga will also all have four automatic spots. The nations from 5th to 10th in the UEFA rankings, France, Russia, Portugal, Ukraine, Belgium and Turkey will all have one automatic group spot and one qualifying round spot.

My comment was a sarcasm, but merging EL and UCL or Super League are not bad ideas at all, cause no one gives a shit about EL and small teams.
I really have mixed feelings about this change in the CL format. Its obviously good for Inter that Italy will 4 automatic spots, as it will make it much easier to qualify.
But really the changes to the CL format is a disgrace, making it even harder for the teams from the smaller countries to qualify. While giving the bigger league certain spots, despite some of these countries hardly deserving it.
Realistically, Italy in example doesnt even deserve to get 4 automatic spots. More often than not the playoff team in serie a has failed to go through to the group stages.
Since 09/10 when Inter won the CL, the italian teams have only managed 4 total quarter final and then fluked final that Rube lost. Also in that period of time, the playoff team from italy when went out before the groupstages every single time except one (milan). Its mindbaffling why UEFA would “reward” italy an extra CL spot and make them all certain for the groupstages, when the results have been so poor and the italian league is in such bad shape.
Corrupt Platini introduced FFP to ensure that the Milan clubs would weaken and Rube would have no real opponents in Italy. It worked but had the side effect of weakening Seria also. I agree with you. The Italian league needs to prove they deserve these spots.
FFP is the main reason we see only rich clubs in CL, we don’t see teams from, for example, Netherlands, Turkey, Russia in QF of CL anymore. Does FFP prevents rich clubs from buying? NO. FFP forces ‘smaller’ clubs (like Inter) to sell their biggest stars, so they will never be great club again (we’re lucky to have Suning, hopefully I’m wrong). Agree, Platini ruined Serie A, this league used to be so interesting.. Honestly, I miss Champions League from the beginning of the century, anyone could win it, now it’s impossible.
Platini helped Rube with FFP, Infantino helps Inter with the 4th spot cuz he is a well known interista.

The spots isn’t the only think that will change the money you get for qualify too CL will change too.. It will give less money for team too qualify too the groups because they will move money from there too the teams that goes far in CL. That will say the teams like Bayern,Barca and Real will get a money boost because they always get far in Cl while it will be less value for small teams.. Less money too the poor and more too the rich…
I like when a small team stick up and surprise in CL but that will be less likely with this change.. Because the money and that 22/32 spots are occupied of the big leagues..
still, Italians teams should fight strong, Cuz it’s possible to see monaco and PSG getting alot of points for French league and taking the 4th rank. then it’s so fucked to see only 2 teams qualify to champions league from Italy,
