Sporting director Piero Ausilio has identified the need to bolster Inter’s midfield options with a player who would compliment the attributes of Roberto Gagliardini and Geoffrey Kondogbia. The Nerazzurri are looking to make a significant signing in that department, and had previously set their sights on Roma’s Kevin Strootman.

However, after carrying out checks on the Dutchman’s physical condition, the club decided against pursuing him any further. Right now he is fine, but the fear is that another injury setback could cut his career short. Therefore, Ausilio is looking for alternative solutions as he wants a player who can offer the team guarantees for the future.
