Don Ausilio

Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio spoke with Premium Sport just before kick-off away to Crotone.

“Pioli said things to stimulate everyone after Sampdoria match. Everyone must feel that their place is at stake, we all have to respect the jersey and the club, we can’t be happy with the standings” Ausilio began before moving on to the rumors surrounding a transfer away from Inter for Ivan Perisic.

“We want to build a team with great players and he is one, we wont take certain offers into account which until now have only been random voices. Manolas? Massara said it well. We have to evaluate players and then see if they are well adapted to the Serie A. Champions League? We started things off poorly and gave the other teams an advantage, including Milan who were 9 points ahead of us when Pioli arrived. We dream pf the Champions League but mathematical facts can’t allow us to leave the realm of reality so the Europe League is our principal target. We have to give our all in these 8 matches, the Champions League is a dream and the Europa League a must.”

In conclusion Ausilio was asked to explain why Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa are lacking in order to be starting more regularly to which he replied: “Joao Mario is a starting player but Banega isn’t a worse player than he is. In big teams like what we are returning to becoming there are important players on the bench and in the starting line-up, such as Joao Mario who has won titles with his country. This doesn’t mean that the investment isn’t important, but Pioli is making definitive choices. When a chance is given you have to show that you deserve it, but the millions spent don’t go out on the pitch because in that case Banega isn’t a good player.”
