After several other interviews, Pioli finally got the chance to spoke to Inter Channel. Disappointment and urge of rectification were the main components of his interview:
“We were totally below average. Our approach and attention were fragile and we created situations favorable to the opponents. You had to make a difference in the performance, Inter should play like the way we did in the second half with a desire to make the difference. It reflects one thing that we have not worked well during the week and my work from the mental point of view has not resulted in what I hoped for.”
“Since I have been at Inter only 1 out of 19 opponents have run more, so it is not a physical issues to address, but the attitude was problematic. We assumed that the qualities were sufficient, but without focus, determination and grit you can do very little. We should start motivating ourselves from Monday to start the job.”
“Third place is now far off but we have to carry out a job. We wanted to turn the tables and change the position that we did not want, but this shouldn’t have been the reaction that we were supposed to put in place. The next match will be a completely different story. Today’s result is a nasty interruption in our work and we have to show especially in the derby that we are not that bad. We still have the capability to reach Europe and to show that we are the team that has done well for the past five months.”
