Stefano Pioli spoke on the 2-2 draw in the press room:

The equaliser makes it feel much more like a defeat, why did it happen?

“We did not succeed because we did not finish the game off, we could have done that by trying to be aggressive, but in turn leave room for those of Milan to attack, we preferred to wait. Lapses of concentration on set pieces have punished us.”

The team sprung in to action in the second half and Biabiany missed a chance at the end…

“In case of victory it would be different, I do not accept the label of Inter being a ‘soft team.’ We did not want to leave spaces for their attackers, we conceded very little. We were careless at dead balls. Biabiany did not score, that was an error.”

Do you feel responsible? Are you thinking of resigning?

“There is always responsibility, in the positive and negative results. With a little more attention we could have won. After the final whistle I thought about how to give momentum to the team because the league is not over.”

At 2-0 was the delicate situation weighing you down mentally? Is this mentality because of the recent negative results?

“Three weeks ago we were more carefree for positive results for the mental condition. Now we are not as bright as a month ago, but the management was important. I think you have to be more objective in order to understand that the development of the game was smart, which penalised us.”

Do you feel the team is afraid and unable to close matches out?

“Today we will talk about the team with more personality in the event of victory. We’ve closed games in the past, making it 3-0. We are disappointed and sorry because the result was not what we wanted and hoped for. But we have to finish our run in by putting all the energy available in to it.”

Why did you start Nagatomo?

“We needed someone quick to stop Deulofeu and Suso. He played 90 minutes with the national team for two games and I thought he was the best option to counter their wingers.”

Montella said Inter have lost too much time, how do you respond to that?

“Opponents speak to often. For me he is a good coach, he must do his job with Milan. We are Inter and we want to win with respect, quality and fairness.”
