In the wake of the defeat to Fiorentina, there was a summit in the changing room involving management and Stefano Pioli and the players. Stefano Pioli offered to resign if he was “the problem” but Inter rejected his resignation. The hug between Pioli and Steven Zhang before boarding the bus showed the owners support of the manager.

we need to understand that the problem is not the manager, but the shitty players
If Pioli doesn’t make Europe I don’t think management has a choice but to sack him. He did a good job steering the ship after the De Boer debacle by simplifying things for the team and instilling confidence back into the players. Unfortunately the team has failed in big games under him, and if we want to have any shot of overthrowing the likes of Juve, Napoli, Roma, or even Milan then the coach needs to go, and the average quality of the team must increase. But how?
Without Europe the team will have to be trimmed which in itself will be an incentive to purge fringe players like Santon, Biabiany, Palacio, Andreolli, Sainsbury and Rano. Once this is done, they can look into monetizing the likes of Eder and probably Brozovic since he’s currently a $25-30M bench player. Jovetic will hopefully be redeemed for a nice sum as well.
A left-back will be bought to start over Ansaldi and opposite D’ambro (who has finally matured into a national team caliber player). One world-class center-back will be purchased, and should they decide to part ways with one or more of Medel/Miranda/Murillo then other reinforcements will be brought in as well. Assuming players like Verratti are out of reach (who knows) then I don’t see much of an issue with leaning on the high-potential trio of Galgiardini/Mario/Kondogbia, along with Banega (who has plenty to offer whether it’s as a starter or off the bench) and coveted young prospects such as Pellegrini, Baselli, or Benassi. A top quality winger should be bought to send Candreva to the bench as a super-sub, and Perisic and Icardi should remain (unless a ludicrous offer comes for Perisic from the EPL). Gabigol should be a regularly-used sub (think Balotelli) and Pinamonti should be Icardi’s backup.
As for the coach, I wouldn’t bank on the likes of Conte or Simeone deciding to come to Italy for a project, but someone like Spalletti could be tempted to leave a top-table team for a moderate wage bump.
In the end, unless Suning decide to blow-up the transfer window with a litany of star-like signings…the only way out of this dump is to develop a strong, hungry core of young players surrounded by a few established veterans..and to place an emphasis on our youth academy as a pipeline of new talent.
Just for fun:
Feasible Inter 2017/18 – Handa; Rodriguez, Manolas, Miranda, D’ambrosio; Kondogbia, Gagliardini, Joao Mario, Perisic, Icardi, Bernandeschi
: )
Did this team smoke a joint at half time? they came out the 2nd half and Fiorentina seriously whipped your asses ! There’s several problems inter has and let me point them out to you:
# 1 – the more Medel plays, the less points inter picks up ! check the PPG with him in and out of the lineup and we can prove this. This is Pioli’s fault because if you know he sucks then don’t play him
# 2 – Inter only plays once a week and have only made 2 points in the last 5 games …what the heck is the excuse for ? i will tell you what happened…these players don’t want to finish 5th place because that will mean more work for them next season so clearly they are lazy and a pathetic winning mentality …..that is all on the players !
# 3 – Please see # 2 and same applied to FDB……..what inter needs is a drill sargeant as a coach to whip these players silly !!
Yet ANOTHER YEAR ZERO !! Maybe in the summer mercato you should invest 500 million in players if you want to beat teams like Crotone or Fiorentina…..
Pioli will be gone after matchday 38, no point getting rid of him before that.
maybe our main problem right now is Medel, I think he is not the right player for the defense, since he has been playing there we have been conceding more goals, bring back Murillo for the rest of the season and use Medel as CDM instead of flopdogbia (I wish we could sell him asap)
Medel can sometimes do those nice long passes from defence, but the last two games have really showed that he’s not good enough, I mean I was laughing my ass of at that viola’s Sanchez how terrible he was and then Medel managed to do even worse! It was just horrible.
But there are more problems than just Medel. The whole team is collectively sucking bad. Pretty much the whole team should help in defending and not just leave cb’s exposed like in last match.
And Kondogbia is still better than Medel in midfield. Medel’s time seems to have passed. I like him for his fighting spirit, but lately he has just been bad
Flopdogbia!? Really?
The guy has had a great run of games since we got Pioli, and in this last match he was much better than Gaglia
It’s a bad habit to point a finger on him everytime, not seeing good things
Because he’s a shy guy, and sadly he’s black, these two things make him an easy target for bullies
Too short for defence, too dumb for a big team mid, good for three man defense that isn’t suitable for Inter. I still believe that Kondo has bright future, too hard for him feel constant pressure of his price tag playing in styleless team, with no support of a senior member, like he had Toulalan in Monaco, having lords behind or next to him, like in Crotone match.
Before reading the comments I thought most of them are against Pioli and I would be the only one defending him, but looks like I was wrong.
I really like Pioli and have great respect for him, since the days of Mou, he’s the only Inter coach that I could love, a nice and humble guy with Nerazzuri blood and passion in his heart, and guys! He has shown he has it, we won 9 games mostly by his plans and substitutions, with a team he inherited from other coaches.
Our dream is Simeone (not that Rubentino fag), but if we don’t get, I prefer to stick with Pioli and strengthen the squad by getting some stars and chopping the rotten apples.
Agree with you. Sticking with him would also make it easier to sell the shitty players he hasn’t played. If a new coach arrives they will stick around and wait for their chance once again!
Pioli is also really getting to now the true quality (or lack of the same) of this squad and therefor is the best man to tell Ausilio where to invest. Simeone or who, ever would new time to evaluate the squad, time we haven’t got!
Adding to this, Pioli has full support of big players like Icardi who begs the club to keep himand his trust makes players like Kondo play better for him.
I think the number one priority should be to take out the trash. Way too many of our players don’t have the mental strength to play for a team that aims to win titles. These guys can’t stay focused for more than 10 games in a season it seems…
How can a coach that won 8 matches in a row lose dressing room and matches afterwards?
There are obvious mistakes from Pioli too but you have to question the attitude of the players. What kind of pussies are playing for Inter…. In the last match 2nd half we were playing like relegation team and no one was tracking back to defend. What a joke and disgrace is this to these sacred colors!!
We have divas who think they are star players while in reality, they should be playing for teams like Udinese or Fiorentina at most…
So true and there is no one in our dressing room that can show these idiots some manners.
It has become a tradition for us to melt down at some point of the season. It’s ridicolous. These players lack grinta.
And people trolled us for that. “Champions of December”
True, it has happened with Mazzarri, Mancini and now with Pioli…. could it be that it isn’t the coach to blame but simple the fact that we’ve got shitty players!?
And with Strama.
True! Of course he got hit by a lot of injuries back then, but still…
Agree! It’s simple media bullshit!
When we had de Boer the players talked about him and said “he clearly had good ideas but needed time to make everyone understand them”, and that “they needed to work harder to understand him”, today what we hear from the players is that they enjoy to work with Pioli, again and again we hear players praising him(Kondogbia, Ambros, Gagliardini, Candreva, Ansaldi and more) are all talking highly of him and after the game against Fiorentina the teams captain, Icardi, almost BEGGED the club not to fire him!
I don’t believe for a second he has lost the changing room!
We’ll, bullshit or not, but I would understand if Pioli felt that the players had stopped playing for him after that horror show.
Hmm.. we went from 1-2 to 5-2 but then we managed to pull our selfs together and turn the game around to 5-4. If they didn’t believed or wanted to play for the coach the game would have finished 5-2 or even worse… plus no one would have defended the coach in the interviews after the game.
Good point. I don’t really have a strong opinion if Pioli should stay or not. All the options except Simeone seem somehow bad. But I have really strong feeling Pioli will be sacked eventhough the players defend him. It’s just a chaos at our Inter once again.
I’m quite sure that will happen too, still I don’t know excatly how Hess Chinese dudes are thinking- at the time of Moratti he would have been sacked today (or after the derby) but now with these long-term-thinking owners we got, I’m not so sure.
According to rumurs Pioli offered to resigned after the game but the directors and Steven all convinced him to stay on. Maybe that’s what the hugging and “I love yuh big time” in front of the player’s bus meant!
Now that would be a first time for us not to sack. It could happen, but wouldn’t put my money on it. Some weird communist thing not to sack? 😀
Pioli disappointed me and some of his choices were really questionable lately but I’m not even mad at him.
I’m really mad at Ausilio for giving renewals to shitty players and not being able to get rid of the junk for so many years ! We reward losers and in the meantime, keeps repeating ourselves that “we are Inter, we have to fight for scudetto blabla..” every year. In the end, nagatomo is still starting games and we are still the laughing stock of serie A. At least, Ac milan can say that they havent invested a lot of money yet.. We did and we are even worst than last year pffff !
He is promoted to Senior squad in 2010 and afterwards he did nothing remarkable along with the other clowns who are gone (fassone, branca). People praised him for Shaqiri and such deals but see how big flop shaqiri was even podolski. And those who say perisic should know that mancini was the man behind him.
He may be a good negotiator but his job doesn’t only consist of getting the best deals. He also needs to have a vision, to recruit players with the right mentality and to take out the trash when it’s obvious that a players is worthless.
Sadly he’s been disappointing with those aspects of his job. Shifting the blame on the players while he was the one who recruited them did disappoint me even more. Why dafuq did he renew all the trash, he should explain that instead of pointing fingers.
That is so true. Inter missed the chance to recruit Monchi from Sevilla. I was hoping that Sunning will not renew Ausilo but turns out Sunning is also without a clue. They should get rid of the advices from the greedy super agents (kia and the other fat pig)
It seemed we never tried for Monchi, but I’ve been hoping we’d try for Leonardo. I credit him for turning PSG from an average ligue 1 team, into a quarterfinalist of UCL in less than 2 years. Since his departure, PSG never really improved anymore obviously…
Players respect and like Leonardo so it would have been much easier for him to attract really good players to our team. Ausilio is a grey character that many players don’t know even exists.
What is he doing now? I mean if he is available sunning should really get him as director and give him powers. He is someone with working brain cells.
He is available. I believe he is a commentator on Italian TV. But he is the kind of person who won’t come, unless he has all the powers to do what he has in mind..;
Well I dont think sunning advisers aka Jorabchiam will allow this or he will lose his money. I hope Sunning learns controlling a football club fast for the sack of Inter.
Well sabatini’s free..what do you guys think of him..i think he got “charisma” and experience compared to ausilio
Sabatini’s cigarette box has more charisma than Ausilio. He finds good players but is for some reason fixated with those “fast but crap” wingers
Would love him to come in
We already extended Ausilo so that is not happening anytime soon. In my opinion Sabatini is a definite improvement compared to Auslio.
Wait until Oriali comeback. Ausilio succeed in selling Rano and Jovetic. He also can grab young talented Italian. I agree with we lack of leader type. Icardi failed to be a captain. More likely mental problem with this squad. In attacking no problem…the big problem is defensive tactics.
I prefer Lele Orialli
I don’t know if last summer was Ausilio’s fault or just suning coming in and doing stupid amateur moves. Gaglia was Ausilio’s and I still like that buy. For Mancini he was getting players that Mancio liked. Ausilio is sort of a character in the management that I have hard time pinpointing what he is to blame for or praise for. He has been guite good at negotiating, but has he ever had free hands to buy players he likes? But at least he should have managed to find some talented cheaper lads during his time. And some of those renewals are just bad as you said.
Selling our bad players is hard because a) they have too big salaries b) they think they are too good to leave for worse team than us. But who gave those too big salaries to them in the first place? And will he again be sort of a weak manager that will let suning and Kia Joorbichian or whoever decide the targets? It’s just hard to know what he actually does besides negotiating and trying to sell deadwood players.
I agree with you and maybe like you said, he doesn’t really have all the powers to buy and sell as he wish. In that case, we are in big trouble.
However, I will never accept the renewals of Naga, Rano and Palacio. I wonder who is really behind that.
Also, I hope he renewed Dumbo, with a backup spot in mind for him, otherwise we are doomed for more years to come..
Yeah, but if he is again that weak negotiater that’s supposed to be manager we are screwed probably. Things just seem really bad at this moment. Next summer he has to pull some rabbits out of his hat or otherwise he needs to be fired asap.
With all due respect to Ausilo but with sunning money, getting most of average targets are easy. I will credit him if he gets someone like Sanchez or veratti.
Yes now his time to shine has come…
Ranno was renewed because he was a huge investment when we bought him and if Hull buys him in the summer we at least get some of that money back.
Palacio got a new contract because of his past with us and because he’s capable of showing the new, young players what playing at Inter means.
Naga…. dunno-marketing?
None of these reason satisfy me. We can’t afford to give contracts to players just because they are nice or whatever. Everybody here on spempreinter knew that rano was shit but management didn’t see it after 5 years ? Same shit with naga.
If we get 8mil for him in the summer – or what ever Hull can buy him at, then it’ll help us dealing with the FFP – that’s a quite good reason!
Besides, being a good lad is very important when you are working with human beings and trying to create a group of players that would go to war together. You can’t have a group of egoistic players only you will need the “funny” dude and the “nice” dude as well… which I’ve heard Nagatome is..
Well then we should not be upset that the club is still at year zero of the restructuration since 2010. If Hull buys Rano, it would have taken “only” 7 years to get rid of him. And naga, how long should we wait for ? I’m not even gonna mention that he replacement is already here.. World class Ansaldi.
No but for real, I envy Juve management to be honest. They only look for strong personalities that play to win. Not player that will tell you “I’m not maicon”…
People in our management are just hoarders, that’s about it. Hoarder always finds a reason not to get rid of stuff.
In business, any company will be fucked up very soon if managed by these ‘nice guys’. The management should have rescinded many zombies’ contracts very long time ago as they never gave their best and hardly contributed to the team. Too bad this Inter is managed by men without balls. And I don’t see this shit is coming to the end, sigh…
We renewed with those players because at that time we did not have the money to buy better players, only players with similar skill level.
We did have money. We actually spent a lot of money over the last few years, compared to many clubs that are doing better than us right now.
Just last summer we spent about 100M. And 30M for a player who played less than 90 minutes of Serie A!
Totally agree il Biscione
Agree with you in everything. Also think Ausilio has done well in a periods where he worked for an almost bankrupt club! Now times has changed and we’ll see what he’s made of!
When it comes to selling players, sacking the coach all the time clearly doesn’t help. Because when a new coach arrives he always gives the players a “fair chance to prove themselfs to him” meaning all the crappie players sticks around and waits for their chance instead of get packing their suite case.
If we sack Pioli now the same will happen; crappie Santon, Ansaldi, Naga and what have you will stay and wait for their chance with the new coach. Even Ranno would maybe return! But keeping Pioli would mean that players who haven’t played under him will surely leave in the summer!
Well said and I agree 100%
Finally someone who sees Ausilio’s big responsibility of this chaos. Funnily, some people said that no one wants our junks or those zombies refused to go away? Then that’s a very strong reason to rescind their contracts long time ago. Too bad Ausilio is just a nice guy who didn’t want to sacrifice these zombies’ life and decided to keep them for bigger chaos later. Sorry to say but, Ausilio’s recent renewal was a very questionable decision made by the top management. This is a very serious problem. We kept changing the manager but not improving the core management of this club. Sorry… nothing will change unless someone has guts to manage this Inter.
Pioli leave now would be a mistake, wait until the day season is over and then we can go for proper and suitable coach
either swap coaches at the end of the season or stay with pioli for another season. but dont just swap coaches midseason again…
Pioli’s days at Inter are numbered. I’m not saying if it’s good or bad, but he won’t be with us next season.
