Roberto Carlos revealed that he was close to the Premier League before eventually joining Inter in an interview with SunSport: “I was on the verge signing for Aston Villa. I met with the club, but in the end nothing happened. Birmingham also took an interest in me, but nothing materialised and I eventually went to Inter.”
