Inter’s Luisito Suarez spoke to TMW about Inter’s current situation:
Everyone is talking about the coach now but I’d first look at the effort to get necessary players. Then i would go by the coach . You can have the best coach, but without good players there is little he can do… we need players with personality, charisma, quality.
At Inter i do not see anyone who can pull the team out of this situation. Simeone? that yesterday was a hard blow. So far Atletico had lost while playing defensively.
As for Simeone and Inter, we must also see if Cholo will want to dive into an adventure with so many unknowns, in a society where no one knows who’s in charge and who decides. All talk, no purchases.
It is not clear how the new owners behave. They come from outside and it makes me think that they either do not ask anything to those who are already in the club or anybody saying anything to them. I did not like that at the Pinetina have removed the name of Angelo Moratti. And I do not care that there is the word ‘in memory’. I would say that they think for themselves rather than for Inter.

it’s the problem in inter, too much noise but lack of intelligent. all decision made by emotional reason, all facts choosed by instant taste.
I have tons of respect for a legendary player like him but some of his points doesnt convince me. First of all the arrival of Chinese (money) was necessary or Inter was destined to fall to mediocrity and secondly WE need a coach with PERSONALITY and players with that same personality.
agreed, this new investor is really urgent or Inter will get another Jonathan, Kuzmanovic, Rocchi and another mediocre players. He , think that Sunning do not ask anything to those who are already in the club or anybody saying
anything to them. if Sunning don’t ask or listen probably they never hired pioli or buying gaglia.
Yeah Sunning actually cares and although they are not experienced in football management that is why I want characters like Ausilio, zanetti and Gardini to step up and take their responsibilities seriously.
Clearly he represents the “old guard in Italy” in the way he thinks:
1) “the foreigners should not come to Italy and buy our clubs – they don’t know how to run an Italian club”.
2) “First we should get strong players then a good coach” (Which is exactly what Moratti always did – just bought in players he liked but which the coach didn’t asked for – of course it should always be the coach who picks the players not the other way around).
3) He´s also criticizing Simeone for playing defensively and losing – very Italian; only those who wins are good enough, but clearly miss the big picture: for I don’t know how many years in a row Simeone managed to get a rather small club like Atletico into the semi-finales in the CL and only lose against the reigning champions, plus he also keeps the club in top 3-4 again again in Spain.
Especially your second point sums up why nobody should listen to this guy.
Buying players without selecting a coach – and thereby a system – before. What a reversed kind of logic.
Go all in and secure the coach ahead of the summer mercato – with Simeone and Blanc being on my personal shortlist.
World class (which Blanc surely is) or simply leave Pioli in charge to clean up the squad in the summer and build a stronger team for Simeone to take over 2018.
After all, no one knows the squad better by now and what to fix than Pioli.
Absolutely. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I am also a ‘bit worried about his tactical sense. Given the big matches and lacking results.
I agree with u what the team need is stabilty give poili next season with a clean start n a transfer market where he able to do more than loans
If Pioli still around for next season, we should make sure that Nagatomo, Brozo, Biabiany and Ansaldi are sold, Barbosa should be loan out or just swap him with other useful players at his price..
With Palacio run out of contract and Ausilio manage to get rid few others unuseful players…then Sunning money will do good for the next mercato.
We can´t buy defenders before we get the coach? Is Ausilio really that bad? Hard to say how long our owners will be waiting who they want as coach. In the mean time Manolas or others might be gone to other teams.
I think we can agree that most teams plays with central defenders, a position where we obviously lack quality. If Veratti where available and we could get him, then of course we should – no matter if Simeone, Blanck, Pioli or another were in charge. BUT – without the obvious that you point out – maybe our future coach has preferences for fullbacks or wingbacks, maybe he don’t play with attacking wings, maybe he want to use 3 central defenders and so forth! My point: Don’t try to solve the puzzle without the bigger picture in mind.
Sure the coach needs to have a say on players. But you were quite hasty to condemn our legend who has played for Inter and managed the team and who has much vaster knowledge about the Inter society than any of us as “a guy nobody should listen.”
He’s right on his main argument that the new owners have been quite clueless and that there doesn’t seem to be clear direction yet, just words. I like to agree with him that the chinese should be careful and try to respect the clubs history. You can’t just come in and dictate stuff as you want and revolutionize as you want. You have to respect the society’s history. He hopes the chinese keep this in mind and I agree.
The first paragraph where he speaks about getting players first he might even mean that keep Pioli and get the players with him. It’s a bit vague so you can interpret it in many ways. Anyways his point is that no coach with current players can achieve great success.
He is old guard, but he has some good points. I don’t even think he means getting all the players first without the coach.
And like it was said above Casper overinterpreted big time what Luisito said. And then you ridiculed him.
Ridicule is a pretty strong word, my friend. Yes, it was harsh to write: “nobody should listen to this guy.”, but that wasn’t based on his merits for the club, or to deny his insigths in the society, more the “players before coach” statement. Because I firmly believe in selecting a coach with a certain, suitable system and only then getting the players needed for him to succeed. That seems like the natural order. Of course Ausilio can work on bringing in the most needed, but the coach should have the biggest say for his system.
He just meant having good foundations before dreaming of big name coaches. He probably meant keeping Pioli and making those foundations with him. I don’t think he meant sacking Pioli then getting the players and after that hiring a coach. I of course agree with you that we should have a coach with whom the team should be built. And I hope it would be Simeone.
But he was sceptical of Inter getting a great coach like Simeone with current management and players. Great coaches are measured very much by their last success or failure. We are still at a state where that failure for any big name coach is very possible.
okay, I think we agree about securing the coach, then the players. We can get a good foundation with the name Pioli, but a great team with the name Simeone. That being said: Simeone would have to be up for the challenge (and possibility of failure, as you point out) and be given time to build as in Ath. Madrid. I like Pioli, but I don’t think he has what it takes. So I would do as i wrote: “Go all in and secure the coach ahead of the summer mercato – with Simeone and Blanc being on my personal shortlist.” – with the option of signing obvious reinforcements beforehand.
I also doubt very much Pioli is the right guy, but like our old legend I doubt also very much we’ll get Simeone or Conte. Blanc could be interesting possibility, but there are no sure bets. I do agree with you on everything you say, but I was just defending the old man as I thought he was not interpreted correctly.
I agreed on many of his points although you get a bit of xenophobic vibe from the interview, but hey, that’s just how most old people are and even that vibe is my interpretation… The interview and the stuff he says are quite vague so you can argue about it like people argue over the bible – forever.
Yeah I mean him no disrespect, I also tend to get carried away by my – sometimes too fast – ways of interpretation… Let’s just get a relative big coach for once and enjoy some success in the famous “next season”…
Yeah, it’s kind of funny to argue when we basically agree on everything. And I don’t really know why I was so eager to defend the old guy on this site as it’s pretty pointless anyways. And I’m the master of hasty commenting myself.

Good points. But I do agree with him that it isn´t really clear whose in charge at he moment. But clearly it seems he´s attacking the foreigners just because they are foreign which is really italian, although he´s spanish..
– well no one (not this old dude either) knows really what´s going in side the club and what Suning and the club´s plan for the summer is. But if you constantly reads the rumurs and think they are the truth, then – sure it looks like the club´s in a mess and no one in control, but time will tell what their plan really is.
They have been talking about getting more “Italian” and getting back to the roots which an Italian coach and some new Italian buys could prove is the plan. About getting back to the roots getting Oriali in would also look like they really is meaning that! He knows the club and is a former legend as a player and as a director!
If we keep the coach and let him build in the summer, get a new CEO in (has he already started the dude from Southamton?), a new president and then brings in needful player and not just shining show ups like Gabi, then it really could seem like the club/Suning have a plan!
We’ll see. But that is what it seems outside (a bit of chaos) and he gets more info probably than us as he most likely knows people from within society. There isn’t yet really nothing to show except Gabigol and words. And what the hell are Thorir and Kia Joorbichian doing there anyways. Very confusing structure they have right now.
Oh yes, there a lot to show: Suning have done a lot of cleaning up in the menegmant, sacking people Thohir hired (Boolingbroke, Frassone etc), We have spend good money already on two strong Italians (Gagliardini and Candreva) plus of course two talented younger players Mario and Gabi – so the thing about going for youngster fits.
Now a new CEO will come in, Steven will problaly take over control in the summer , a strong leader like Oriali will return and hopefully more changes will happen in the summer!
I think Suning has a plan, we just have to wait and see and not trust all we read!
He is not italian….
Good job overinterpreting everything everything btw.
There is some overinterpreting and the legends main point is that Inter is unstable environment at the moment which I agree. You can buy some players before you get the coach of course, if you have a good DS and clear direction where you are going. We don´t have clear direction and our DS is… I don´t really know how good he really is….
