Former Inter midfielder and current vice-coach of the Swiss national team Antonio Manicone discussed the Nerazzurri’s current malaise live on TMW Radio earlier today. Here is what he had to say:

“I’m very sorry to see Inter in this position. Before the Atalanta match, I visited La Pinetina and Pioli was doing a lot of good work. I’m sorry to see him struggling, because I consider him to be one of the best Italian coaches. I think it’s a mental problem, not a physical one.

“I’m sorry because it’s a good team, but it’s normal that changing coaches has weighed heavily on the players. I remember my time at Inter when we won the UEFA Cup but were close to being relegated to Serie B. The head rules: if it doesn’t work, the performances do not arrive. This tells me that the problem is mental, not physical.”
