In what could be described as the lowest point of the season for Inter, Pioli’s men suffered through a month where they couldn’t record a single victory. They came within a minute of one but couldnt hold on. Not a single one of the players averaged over 6 in this month from hell.

Joao Mario is the SempreInter.com player of the month for April. The Portuguese Euro 2016 winner looked to be only a bench warmer last month when Ever Banega was on fire. He came off the bench against Sampdoria to earn a 5.5. He looked short of confidence and looked like he was trying to hard. His perfomance against Crotone was worse however as he failed to assert himself again coming off the bench. He was rated 5 which was his worst performance in April. Things turned around in the derby where he showed glimpses of what Inter saw before deciding to break the bank to get him. His rating of 6.5 was the highest of the month until then. He continued to be a starter in Florence where he didn’t contribute much defensively but got an assist in for Icardi, another 6.5 beckoned. Against Napoli he was the only player transitioning the ball well before Pioli decided he wanted a half fit Perisic in his place.

Following our number 6 is our number 9, Mauro Icardi.  He had a productive month and got back into the Capocannoniere race. Mauro didnt start of well against his former team Sampdoria, which alongwith the Napoli game were rated at 5. Crotone was his worst performance and his lowest rating of his season of 4.5. He finally broke his Milan duck in the derby and really looked hurt at full time when it didnt result in a victory. This performance was rated at 6.5. He continued his purple patch by scoring a late hat trick in the trip to Florence and looked like the only player who really doesnt ever give up. This was certainly his best performance in April with 7.5

Rounding up the top 3 is no-one other than Ivan Perisic. The fact that he gets into the top 3 inspite of having 2 ratings of 4.5 (Crotone and Napoli) sums up Inter’s performances in April very well. He looked out of sorts and unfit against Sampdoria with a poor performance that was rated a 5. The other 2 games in April where were he showed his best, the derby where he scored what should have been the winning goal with an all-round brilliant performance resulted in a deservedly rating of 7. He got one better with a goal, his 10th of the season and an assist to Icardi in Florence but Inter still couldn’t come home with anything.

Lets hope Inter have a better ending to the season and finally get some points as the last victory was on the 12th of March.
