But in that Lazio match he put Conceicao, Recoba, Vieri and Ronaldo from start at the same time in an away game. Lazio had a bad season, but they were no pushovers with guys like Nesta, Stam, Simeone etc. It was like he was asking for trouble.

My memory is not perfect by any means, but those guys did start the game. I think the game could be found somewhere from the internet and it would be interesting to see it again. We had good chances though, but that Gresko thing can kill any teams morale. Good old Hector, always finishing second. Football gods haven’t been really favorable to him when it comes to winning titles.
I liked Recoba so much also. He should have gotten more chances as second striker. He was an artist and really did have some memorable performances.

It’s becoming rather hard to argue that we weren’t intentionally tanking last EL spot when shit like this happen. We got 2 points in the last 8 games, went on a 4 defeat streak and lost to Genoa, who won exactly once in the last 15 games before winning against us. Then, just as we can’t qualify for EL anymore, we win against Lazio in good form, on their stadium, while missing Miranda and Icardi (arguably 2 of the 3 most important players) while playing with a 4 man defense made up of 3 fullbacks and a centerback that played aobut 150 minutes in the whole season. Also, that was a really bizzare match.
