2. Inter doesnt want him anymore.
3. His contract expires in 2018.
Old + unwanted by his club + contract expiring soon = low transfer fee, its not rocket science.
The alternative is to have him as a fringe bench player next season, pay his 1,6m salary (3,2 with tax) and then lose him for free next season.

because a lot of people live in an alternate reality where our players are actually good and high profile ones, and its only because of pure bad luck that we are not in CL for years, or because of the actual coach. the players are the problem here and while medel is not the biggest one, but he surely is a part of the problem. some consider him essential yet his biggest suitor is Boca Juniors. 5m is still better than nothing considering he would sit on the bench

everyone would prefer selling them too. nagatomo is the biggest fucking burden football has ever seen, santon failed like 28 medicals. they are unsellable, contract termination is the only way. City had the balls to do it… Andreolli could stay as a backup (like a backup backup and mostly because he is Inter-product+Italian, which is essential when it comes to registering for Serie A)

Roma didn’t want to sell Manolas to us so we wouldn’t have had anywhere near the same terms as Zenit, plus the Skriniar deal helps us with FFP due to the way it’s structured (counting Caprari before July, Skriniar I’m sure we are trying to move the deadwoods on but not easy for average high wage players. As for Suning they need to wait till July for FFP reasons. No doubt that a big splash will be made given what they are willing to spend on youth prospects (that don’t count rtowards senior team budget btw).
