Inter icon Ronaldo spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport on his time with the Nerazzurri. Speaking on his debut season in 1997/98, he said: “I’m sorry not to have won the league as it was a great project, it was a dream. Every game was a party. The spirit of Inter was revived.”

Il Fenomeno was then asked if one day, he would return to Inter in some capacity: “I haven’t dreamed so far ahead yet, it’s early. But I’ve always said that I have Inter in my heart, well before Suning came along.”

He then discussed Inter ahead of the forthcoming season: “I can say that with Spalletti they have found not only found a great manager, but also a good manager of a group. I don’t envy him though, he’ll have to find a way to get the team firing in a hurry, because Inter have been waiting for everything for years: their fans and also Europe.”

Compatriot Gabigol was the next thing that Ronaldo spoke about: “The Gabigol I saw in Brazil has quality, but at Inter, even in training, do you feel like you’re being used in the right way to impress them?”

Ronaldo concluded the interview revealing the manager he’d like to play under and a player he would have liked to have played with: “Mourinho: everybody talks about him as a great commander, I am curious about him. As for the player, well…Maradona. We’d all enjoy playing with him, no?”
