Former Inter manager Stefano Pioli spoke to Spor on Inter and all but confirmed Matias Vecino’s transfer to Inter: “I would like to prove on August 20th [when Inter and Fiorentina play] that even Fiorentina will play an important role in the league.”
Piolo spoke on his successor Luciano Spalletti: “The Nerazzurri chose a very well-trained technician. Did Spalletti call me for information? No. But it’s normal. I do not even call the coaches that have preceded me. A new technician must come with a clean head and gather information with his own eyes.”
“He [Spalletti] already a very strong team, and Vecino is a great signing.”

Since Spalletti the who request Vecino, we have to trust him..
this Vecino guy could potentially be a new star, hopefully
Vecino is alternative spalletti want more quality player like nainggolan or vidal…
Maybe he see some gold in vecino… Hopefully he is right on
The way I see it, since expecting that Valero will be able to play every game this year is not realistic, then we will need a good playmaking backup in case Valero gets injured. None of K-Dog, Brozo, and Gagliardini has the deep playmaking ability which can link our defense and attack. Valero was purchased for that purpose, and Vecino is his backup.
Mario has shown that he’s an awesome playmaker… Vecino is more like a physical box-to-box, will actually be brought in to compete with Kondo, not as Valero’s sub..
I think Spalle intends to play JM in the trequartista position behind the lone striker. And when I said Vecino is Valero’s backup, I didn’t meant as his backup per se but rather as an alternate to Valero in performing the deep playmaking duties. What do you guys think?
He can technically use Mario as a regista and move Brozo up as a trequesta… I agree that Valero is more technical than Gaglia and Brozo, but I highly doubt that Vecino has superior playmaking ability to those two..
Hey, chill out man!! Spall needs him, vecino is his request and he’s the coach.. Be realistic for a bit dudes
His request was Naingola… They couldn’t give him that… Same story with Mancini, his request was Yaya, they gave him Melo…
Most of you all here keep stating that Vecino is an average player without even seeing the guy play. i am sure you all are the same people who complained about the signing of Valero and Skirniar. It shows how much you know about football. The purchase of Vecino is a plus in so many ways. Just to name a few, he is young, has serie A experience, severly underated, help creates strong competition within the squad for starting positions and the biggest advantage of all Spalletti wanted him because he fits into his plans
The pair Valero/Vecino achieved the 8th rank in Serie A table. What else is changed since last year, other than Borja becoming too old for a box-to-box midfielder?
We have average midfielder with upside like Gaglia, Kondo, Brozo all younger than Vecino.
We either need to sign someone with International experience like Naingo, Vidal, Matic, or NOT sign anyone at all.
Of course the situation at fullback is different, as ANYone would be better than the piece of shit Fagatomo
Kondo and Brozo are clearly leaving us.
Nah, Kondo will stay for sure, and I haven’t seen any interest for Brozo lately ..
Valero and Vecino are not strikers and they are not solely responsible for Fiorentina last season position. Big names players at this moment is not necessary for inter plus any player the management buy the same fans would complain about them, so the best thing one could do is support the team as we dont know whats going on with transfers behind the scenes
You are deluded
True bro.. that people, act like better sporting director, only judge player by FIFA or FM stat. Better you don’t listen, we won’t go anywhere if we always stop only to throw stones on every dog that bark
Thats so true, but what angers me the most is when these new players turn out to be good ones they just turn around and say how much they love the player and how he’s the purchase of the season. lol
And you follow him every season? youtube? No offence even lord jonathan similar with Maicon in youtube..
ofc not. there are people that paid to do it for the club so they should have better knowledge than everyone here, including me
If Inter already has a good squad, then why did you finish 7th with it? Was it because starting Bianiany over Barbosa, keeping Candreva at all costs, or starting Yuto Fagatomo, or maybe playing with 10 defenders against Milan when you are 2 goals up. Get the fuck out of here…
Maybe vecino is good player but actually he’s not upgrade for inter midfield… we only play at serie A we don’t need quantity inter need quality…
I believe vecino is a good player, he’s compose with the ball, has strong long shoot ability, and still quite young. 24m spread in 2 years actually a pretty good deal. But I believe he isnt really add anything significant to our midfield since we got like mario, gaglia, kondog and brozo which on par with him.
If we aim for at least one big player in midfield this move is somewhat clueless, except if one of our midfielders is leaving. At first I think kondog is going to be the pawn as brozo has no interested clubs in him. But seeing how kondog performed in the last couple of matches I still have faith in him. So idk whether vecino is going to be complete our midfielder signing and then aiming for star players in winger instead or there will be a surprise in midfield. But vidal is almost impossible to get based on rumminiege and ancelotti statements.
Its a very good deal for Fiorentina, 24m for an average player, they can easily buy 2 players of similar or better quality for that money. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
But Vecino himself is the real winner here, he really won the lottery here. He is only on 1,1m right now at Fiorentina and will get 3m at Inter! Good job to his agent for getting Inter to cough up that much, although Inter are usually clueless when it comes to negotiating player salary, but still very GJ.
