Should Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona for the rumoured €120 million, Inter will receive part of the fee ESPN detail. Article 21 of the Fifa rules on transfers states that any club who helped with the development of a player between the ages of 12 and 23 is due 5% of any fee, if the player moves before the end of his contract.
Inter will receive €3 million if the aforementioned figure is the true figure, which is only 2.5% but this is because the 5% must be split with Vasco Da Gama, who Inter purchase a 16 year old Coutinho from.

I agree that Cou seemed bad when he first arrived as a teen… certainly not better than Gabi. But I also think Cou was starting to look pretty dang great in that 6-month period before he was sold (at which point I think he was 20?). So if you look at that purely from an age perspective, Gabi is “behind” where Cou was at the same age. But, Gabi obviously has less Serie A time under his belt than Cou did at that point. So whether it’s a difference of talent or Serie A experience is anyone’s guess.
