Luciano Spalletti spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport on a number of topics. Gazzetta released a few snippets of their interview with the Inter manager ahead of its full release in the coming days: “This is the Inter that I expected, knowing it deeply, at the beginning there were important signings and if you do not have deep knowledge, the signings could be wrong. In this case the purchases were just right. So we have to be confident for the foreseeable future.”
Spalletti was then asked if he would feel pressure at the San Siro on Sunday amid reports that in excess of 60,000 will be there: “I’m excited about having a big crowd, I would like to go and welcome them one by one. When there is a strong love for the team like, you have to give it back to them [with a performance on the pitch].”
Has the gap been closed on Juventus and Napoli? Spalletti then pondered: “This is difficult to say because then my colleagues think I want to be given the pressure. However I think Juve have something more in terms of the substance while Napoli play modern football.”
Finally, Spalletti was asked to consider if Mauro Icardi could win the capocannoniere award this season: “Mauro is strong, he knows that he has to keep his eyes on goal and when in the penalty box find the goalkeepers weak spot and score.”
