According to Tuttosport, the FIGC (the governing body of Italian football) are to side with the idea of the FA that the transfer market should close just before the season starts.

“The FIGC is studying the possibility of anticipating a closure of the transfer market before the Serie A season begins. The idea at the table is to close 48 hours before the opening day of the football season in Italy,” the outlet reports.

“For the season just started, the transfer window would have shut at 23:00 on August 17th, two days before Serie A commenced on August 19th, rather than at the same time on August 31st,” it continues.

The FIGC will now formulate its proposals and present them to all the professional leagues in the country to collect club observations and return to the federal council with a joint decision.

As would be the same in England, this transfer window would only be for incoming transfers to the league. Countries where the transfer window would still be open such as Turkey would still be able to buy players from Serie A.

There will be a board meeting of the EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues) to discuss the ideas in Milan next week.
