Atalanta’s Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez spoke to Il Giorno on the regrets he has about his career: “There are two of them, not joining Atletico Madrid or Inter. Catania and Atletico could not agree a fee while Andrea Stramaccioni had called me when he was at Inter but I prefer not to look at what I’ve lost out on as wherever I played I was an idol and this fills me with pride.”

Papu concluded by stating which he regretted more, Atletico or Inter: “Atletico is the biggest regret as in 2014 they won La Liga. Let’s just say I had bad luck.”

The 29-year-old forward recently prolonged his stay in Bergamo extending through to 2022, putting rumours of an exit in the near future near enough to bed. The Argentine, who holds dual-Italian citizenship, has been in fine form for Atalanta this term, netting five times and assisting three in nine outings in all competitions.
