A great first half performance followed by a 20 minute blackout in the second half only to be followed by a freak goal by Icardi to only then concede in the 81st minute, leading to winning a penalty in the 90th minute and the game. A complete Pazza Inter performance. No points for guessing man of the match tonight.
Samir Handanovic – 7: Couldn’t do much on the goals but kept us in the game making some great saves during that hellish first 15 mins of the second half.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Won the ball that led to the first goal and set it up for Candreva and kept his side quiet. Everything got worse once Candreva got subbed off.
Milan Skriniar – 7.5: The only thing that I can complain about Skriniar is his parents choice of a first name. Absolute beast, shades of Walter Samuel in him.
Joao Miranda – 6: Struggled at the start of both halves. Battled injury but battled hard and used his experience to cover and take us to the 3 points in the end.
Yuto Nagatomo – 6.5: Went forward a lot today and played a lot of good balls that kept Icardi interested. His linkup with Perisic was non-existant though.
Roberto Gagliardini – 7.5: He dominated the midfield and basically bossed the game in the first half. Made 1 mistake and that led to Suso’s goal but it wasn’t all his fault.
Matias Vecino – 7: The early yellow card limited Matias but he was industrial tonight. He made a lot of great attacking runs but needs to work on his shooting.
Antonio Candreva – 7.5: If I was Spalletti, I’d tell Antonio each game is a derby. He gave it 110% today and not just in quantity. Superb assist and great defensive work.
Borja Valero – 7: Borja battled hard to create chances. His quality with the ball isclear to see.Without the ball he closed down Biglia. Experience is invaluable.
Ivan Perisic – 7.5: Borini shadowed him in the first half, but Ivan cant be stopped that way. He worked very hard in defence and as usual popped up with an assist.
Mauro Icardi – 10: I want to give him a 12 tonight. 1st goal was great, 2nd goal world class all things considered, penalty under pressure was out of the world.
Joao Cancelo – 4.5: He failed to mark Bonaventura and apart from one good moment in the Milan box where he won the corner looked like a deer in headlights.
Eder – SV: Took a booking for the team and ran in his 5 mins. He could have so easily scored the winner tonight, invaluable option of the bench.
Davide Santon – SV: Time wasting sub, not much to write about Santon. His injury worries are hopefully behind him now.
Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: At the end of the first half Luciano would have got a 10, but his team came out with poor attitude and didn’t have a response to Milan.
Paolo Tagliavento – 5: Tagliavento missed Biglia’s handball that led to Vecino’s booking, I’m not sure about the penalty too. Perisic booking too harsh.
Inter – 8: We should have wrapped up the victory in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half, but we are Pazza and we had to show it tonight. Great last minute win.
Should we have given Icardi a 12? Do you agree that we saw the best of Candreva this season? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter and Facebook.
For me:
Handa and Vecino 8
Gaglia 5.5
Danilo and Miranda 7
Cancelo deserve more
Naga 6.5 really? he did nothing good all match and get destroyed by borini lol
Gaglia also wasn’t that good. Not bad but seemed too stagnant. This is where I miss Kdog who covered alot of defensive ground and won every Ariel duel and ball near his feet. Gaglia deserves a 6 probably
Tbf to Cancelo, he came on in easily the biggest game he will play in all year after only registering 6 mins in serie a otherwise. He wasnt great but wasnt bad. His talent was there but that is a very tough situation to throw a new player intoi’
I don’t get why Nagatomo has 6.5 and D’ambrossio has 6 Nagatomo was rated by literaly everyone as the worst player on the field and had the lowest rating with Gagliardini!
PLUS HOW THE HELL DID YOU GAVE MIRANDA A 6?!He was the boss of the Defence and had Andrea Silva in his pocket!!!Miranda 7 Gaglia,Nagatomo 5,5-5 MAX!And Cancelo’s 4.5 was WAY too harsh!
Gaglia 5 vecino 7.5..
Gagli is the worst along with nagatomo
Gaglia was shit. Handa 9 imo
4.5 to Cancelo is just too harsh. This writer is smoking marijuana. It was his first Milan derby of his life. And he only came late in the 2nd half too. Had some good movement. Clearly has quality in dribble and run, just need a little bit more confidence and play time.
The goal ? Well, both Andre and Borini uses faint move in front of goal and Bona came in from the blind side, it wasn’t so easy to anticipate. If anything we should give credits to them with that moves. Besides Cancelo wasn’t put as a Full-back that night, so it’s not entirely his fault.
Actually think he deserves that, he came on and didn’t do much and was to blame for not marking his man all the way to our goal when they ecualized…
7.5 to Gagliardini and 7 to Vecino?! Are we talking about the same game or is this a joke?!!?!??!?
Gaglia was awful, never participate in the game, just walking without any sense of responsibility, while Vecino was fighting hard, running all over the field and covering Gaglia’s lazy ass!
Don’t forget the corner which led us to the penalty came from Vecino’s 50 meter run.
IMO, 5 to Gaglia and 8 to Vecino.
Agree completely – I think Gagliardini has to improve a lot if we are to buy him next summer. Especially with all the cash we should expect Suning to spend next summer! Vecino was great also taking into account he is a new signing and played his first Milano-derby!
Unfortunately I think we’ll buy him regardless of his awful performances specially in big games, just for the sake his Italian nationality.
So far he has been too mediocre in most of his games for us but he gets so much hype from the media.
Well, gagliardini is still very young (23 I think) and he has alot of time to learn and evolve.
But I think it is a bit strange to get a player who did superbly as a box-to-box player at Atalanta and was called the next Dino Baggio for that reason and then turning him into a destroyer for us!!
IMO 6 to Gagliardini and 5 to Vecino. Despite some great runs forward, he lost to many balls in a risky moments. After he took a yellow, he was the most annoying player on the pitch.
