As reported this morning by Gazzetta dello Sport, Franco Baresi and Beppe Bergomi, were the protagonists of a meeting at the San Babila Theater in Milan for the Panorama d’Italia show. A conversation made of stories, anecdotes and stories of a life with the same shirt. “The Milan derby is perhaps the only one that, while maintaining a good level of rivalry, remains a serene challenge without too much animosity. Even in our golden years, the rivalry between Sacchi’s football and Trapattoni was felt a lot, but then we all found ourselves in the the national team and all was forgotten.”

And when talking about Milan’s Sacchi, Baresi has many memories: “Sacchi used to go to the rooms the night before the games to give us the last indications. We would switch off the light and pretended to sleep. Retiring was really hard, you want to continue playing until your 50 years old but you can’t.” Bergomi then ended the interview with a thanks to Gigi Simoni for giving him the chance to play his last world cup at age 36.
