The agent of Benfica’s right back Alex Pinto, Joao Rui Rodrigues, spoke exclusively to fcinternews about the future of his client. The 19 year old Portuguese defender currently plays for the Benfica B team but has been on Inter’s radar in recent weeks.
Can you describe Alex Pinto?
“He is one of the most promising young players in Portugal. He is a very strong right sided player that plays with great intensity for a whole 90 minutes. He has a great future for Portugal and Benfica”
Will he start playing more for the first team soon?
“Alex made his first team debut while playing for Guimaraes. There is no doubt that he will be Europe’s finest fullback in future. This is why Benfica have tied him down with a six year contract with a release clause of 50 million euros. He grew up a Benfica fan, so playing for them is a dream come true.”
In Italy there are reports of Inter following him?
“I think it’s normal for any team to scout him. I know some emissaries that came from Italy to watch him while he was playing for Portugal U-20 but I haven’t had any official contact with them. When he played against Italy there were scouting that were watching. In fact before we signed with Benfica, there were offers from Italy and England but we are happy to have choose Benfica.”
But if the right offer comes?
“His future will be decided by the club. Inter is a top team. But for now he is focus on representing Benfica and showing his worth”
