In what was a great match for a neutral bystander, Inter first produced one of the best halves of football in a long time before deciding to sit back and invite Sampdoria into the game. Who was at fault for the goals?

Samir Handanovic – 5: Didn’t have much to do, but didn’t do that well. Completely at fault for the first goal and partially for the 2nd. Didn’t inspire the usual confidence.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5.5: Had a fantastic first half. Always gives his all and covers well in defence. Was nowhere to be found on both goals. His first half is his saving grace.

Milan Skriniar –  7.5: Skriniar can do everything. Score important goals, win tackles and boss almost each and every opponent. Looks like a seasoned professional.

Joao Miranda – 5: Miranda looked very nervous even when we were playing well, takes too many touches on the ball and gives it away in dangerous areas easily.

Yuto Nagatomo – 7: Personally, this was the best Nagatomo performance I have ever seen. He was everywhere on the left wing and for once got his positioning right.

Roberto Gagliardini – 7: Tiredness was his only weakpoint. As long as Vecino was besides him Gagliardini looked unbeatable. His positioning and tackling were fantastic.

Matias Vecino – 6.5: I have no clue why he was taken off. All that is needed to be said is that he reminds me of a certain bald Argentinian midfielder. Box to box.

Antonio Candreva – 7.5: Where has this Candreva been? The derby has awoken this player and he has broken his shackles. Too bad he cant do this for the entire game.

Borja Valero – 6: 1st half he combined well with everyone but didn’t look like he will score. When tired he is asked to play deeper but struggles until the end.

Ivan Perisic – 7.5: Ivan gave every ounce of energy he had tonight. Superb in defence and unlucky to hit the post and crossbar tonight. Thank you Mourinho.

Mauro Icardi – 8: Another game, another night where Maurito makes goal scoring look very easy. Wasn’t involved in the game a lot but in the box he is perfection.

Joao Mario – 5.5: Looked tired, slow and bereft of ideas. His introduction actually made us play worse. Messed up an easy counter attack. No confidence at all.

Davide Santon – SV: Can be partially blamed for the 2nd goal but he’s coming back from a long layoff. Didn’t have much to do after that.

Eder – SV: Took a booking for the team as usual in his few minutes, but ran the entire time to help close their midfield.

Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: Understandably, we were tired towards the end but Luciano took too long to make the changes. Before that we produced some great football.

Marco Guida – 7.5: Cant remember anything major that Guida got wrong. Had complete control of the game and all bookings were justified.

Inter – 6.5: Best 45′ in a long time. We were unplayable after the slow start till halftime. After the 3rd goal we sat back and let a comfortable win almost slip away.

Did Nagatomo deserve more? Is Borja irreplaceable? Is there anything Skriniar can’t do? Who do you think was Inter’s Man of The Match?
