Former Inter defender Andrea Mandorlini spoke on Inter’s 3-2 victory over Sampdoria on Tuesday night.

“For 70 minutes there was only one team on the pitch,” Mandorlini told TMW Radio. “Inter began to believe in their own qualities. The most important aspect for a top team is teamwork. Inter defends as a team and certainly gives the impression of being a solid group.”

Mandorlini, who played over 200 times for Inter in a seven year spell then gave his thoughts on whether Inter’s lack of European football will help them.

“It can certainly help but we will only know if it will help in time. It is an aspect that needs to be exploited and I believe that Luciano Spalletti is able to translate this message to the players.”

He concluded by discussing where he believes Inter are short: “Inter look so complete but, maybe the only change needed is someone other than Eder who can replace Mauro Icardi.”
