Inter legend Sandro Mazzola gave an interviewed with ll Mattino on a wide variety of Inter related topics.

“When Helenio Herrera first noticed me, he played me as a centre forward. I didn’t play well but he continued to press me, then he turned me into a second striker. Milani was our forward so I had to operate from the right or left side. Towards the end of my career I went back to midfield and I played in that role in the 1970 world cup for Italy. I would play with Mario Corso with my eyes closed.”

He also talked about this seasons scudetto race: “Players such as Mertens can always change the phase of the game.At Inter there is Icardi, a beast, who seems to be out of the game for quarter of an hour and then decides it. For Juventus it’s Dybala. For the Scudetto race, I would say it will be a battle between Inter and Napoli but we can’t leave Juve out of this. They are always in the battle for the title.”
