Fabrizio Tazzioli, the former coach of Napoli’s Amadou Diawara has revealed an interesting anecdote including the Guinean midfielder and Inter.

“I told the Nerazzurri about Diawara, I talked to the scouts, but I realise it is not easy to trust a Lega Pro players’ references,” he said on Radio Punto Zero.

Tazzioli, who was in charge of Diawara during the now 20-year-old’s spell with San Marino continued, “That summer, Inter made a big investment for a well-known midfielder in Geoffrey Kondogbia but they could have bought both Diawara and Paulo Dybala together for less than what they paid for Kondogbia.

“Juventus, Milan and Roma were also often present in the stands, but no one had the courage to take a chance on Diawara,” he concluded.

Diawara joined Bologna in 2015 for little over €400,000 and after just one season joined Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli in a €15 million deal. Diawara has made 10 appearances across all competitions this term for the Partenopei.
