Inter Midfielder Matias Vecino: “I Want To Score More Goals”

Inter’s Uruguayan international midfielder Matias Vecino gave a long interview to Premium Sport ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A lunchtime Serie A fixture against Torino at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district. The former Fiorentina player spoke on a wide variety of topics starting with the positive start the team has made to the season.

“I am always positive. The enthusiasm from the fans gives us more strength and we can see that from the results on the pitch. We are excited to see them fired up, the road is still long and we must continue in the same way.”

San Siro will be almost packed on Sunday?

“It indicates that we are doing well and that the fans appreciate our efforts. It is a big responsibility for us.”

Did the coach tell you to continue with your feet on the ground?

“Yes, but I do not think there was fatigue in Verona. The penalty changed it a little bit.”

Are you becoming more and more aware of being one of the strongest?

“Winning gives you this type of feeling. We have to win on Sunday to keep the momentum”

Is the Champions League your goal?

“Of course, we are amongst the top teams in the Serie A. We want to make most of it and stay at the top for a long time.”

Spalletti is adding a lot of value to Inter, what is his secret?

“Spalletti is a coach that knows how to convey his ideas and gives the team a strong mentality. He always find the right words for each match.”

The fact that Inter wanted you increased your responsibilities?

“Definitely, I have always said that my main objective is to impress those that wanted me here”

Do you want to score more goals?

“Maybe I need to add goalscoring to my quality as a midfielder or maybe improve on it. I am happy with what I am doing especially with last month where I felt more free to play. Team changes are normal.”

Can you win the Scudetto?

“No, the road is still long. We need to have short term goals because there are plenty of games left. We must have the right thoughts and continue in this way.”
