Corriere dello Sport have labelled Inter’s Gabriel Barbosa, better known by his nickname Gabigol, as a flop.

15 months after completing a €30 million move from Brazilian club Santos and hailed as one of the world’s best young talents, the 21-year-old has showed no signs of living up to the hype that surrounded him during his time at Inter and ongoing loan spell at Benfica.

The Rome based newspaper are of the opinion that Gabigol is an investment to forget for Inter and their Chinese owners Suning who were looking to make a real statement of intent when they signed him, fighting off a wealth of competition to do so.

Joao Mario and Cristian Ansaldi, who both joined around the same time as the Brazilian have both also been labelled flops. The Portuguese has saw limited game time this term while Ansaldi was sold in the summer to Torino, a mere season after joining.
