Roma manager Eusebio Di Francesco has retraced the events that lead to him being appointed as the manager of the Giallorossi in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

Inter manager Luciano Spalletti claims to have offered Di Francesco to Rome but the former Sassuolo manager denied the claims.

“I do not know who made this up, but it is completely false, I can say with great pride that I have never been offered to anyone, nor has any player or coach.”

Di Francesco then gave his version of events.

“The first contact dates back to May, my whole team knew because I kept them up to date with the negotiations. My representatives then went to Arrigo Sacchi’s home.”

“I was in a restaurant in Fusignano with the whole Sassuolo squad, we had to play a friendly there. During that time I got a phone call and was told by the Roma management that the deal was done.”
