Sky Italia journalist, pundit and commentator, Fabio Caressa, spoke about Inter on Sky Sport Italia today regarding the Nerazzurri’s season so far generally and particularly, the squad as well as the resources available to coach, Luciano Spalletti.
Caressa stated that “Inter need to buy a central defender because with suspensions and injuries they could be left short with just one backup player in that position in Andrea Ranocchia. Personally, I can’t understand why there are some that say that Inter need to strengthen in the full-back positions when they have D’Ambrosio and Nagatomo who have arguably been the most consistent in that position in the league so far, those who have failed to impress are mainly in other areas of the pitch.”
Caressa concluded by naming the names of the players he would sign if he was Inter’s Sporting Director saying that “I would go for Mehdi Benatia from Juventus. I think that now that Höwedes is fit, he won’t play much more for Juventus and I think it is possible a deal could be made. Otherwise I would buy Criscito who can play either in the middle of defence or on the left side.”
I prefer inter must buy Jose Gimenez (contract until june 2018), or Skodran Mustafi..must excelent partner with Milan Skriniar.. Don’t buy mediocre player (wasting money)..
Yup
Criscito, one more mediocre left back ,but in this case a 32-33 years old mediocre left back at the very end of his mediocre career…
As left back we don’t need anyone except for a truly outstanding one, like a Brehme or I would keep the THREE options we already have, which are already worth a Criscito more or less ,if not better.
No thanks.
Benatia… better than nothing (or better than Ranocchia, same thing) as an experienced sub in the middle of the defense, I admit this , yes, BUT, to make this clear :
He is a nobody in Juve, their very last option, the fifth of five options as their central defenders for two spots ,(Barzagli,Chiellini,Rugani ,Howedes ..and then Benatia if they are really desperate and miss three central defenders)..so he is on the market right now:
So, I would say no thanks for him too, even if I am sure he could be gotten pretty cheap( which is the only thing really attractive about him right now).
I still think of Mustafi…
He would be just right for us.
Even Serie A tested for 2 seasons when he played very well in Sampdoria ,knows the language,so ,predictably faster to “adapt”.
