Many Inter fans might recall affectionately Vítor Hugo Gomes Passos, also known as Pelé. The promising young midfielder who played an important role at Inter despite the presence of many top players. He was part of the 2007/08 team trained by Roberto Mancini which won the Italian Serie A and the Italian Supercoppa. The Portuguese player spoke to FcInterNews about his experience at Inter.

How are you currently?

“All right, I spend my life with my family.”

What do you remember about your time in Milan?

“Fantastic, I played at Inter during the best years I could have played in. The team was full of great players. I was only 20 years old but it was a pleasure to defend these colors.”

Do you still follow Inter? Are you still an Interista?

“I have always supported Inter, despite being born Portugal, the Nerazzurri have been my favorite team since I was a kid, and of course I still support them all the time.”

What do you think about Spalletti’s team? Is it ready for the scudetto?

“This year they started very well, a lot better than the past. The team is solid, we are still at the beginning and it is soon to say if we can win the championship, but I hope so. ”

Which players did you strike a friendship with?

“Vieira, Dacourt, Jimenez, Figo, Ibrahimovic and all the Brazilians. I’m honest when I say the the atmosphere in the locker room was very good.”

Roberto Mancini and the club believed in you. Do you regret leaving?

“Now that several years have passed since then, I’ve been able to contemplate, and I think that I made the wrong decision, because I had a good season with Inter, and many thought I could still have a great future for the Nerazzurri. I did not want to leave, but I was part of the Quaresma deal to bring him to Inter. If I had not accepted, that transfer would have failed, which is why I said yes with great pleasure to Porto, my hometown team and an unquestionably prestigious club.”
