Former Inter defender Marco Andreolli has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of his reunion with former teammates on Saturday when Cagliari play host to Inter.

“We got three precious points from our trip to Udine. We beat Verona and Udinese but we are totally focused on the match with Inter.

“Inter is a collective and matured group. With the help of our fans we are ready for them. It is a perfect test for our team and we have to do something more while hoping Inter have a bad day.”

The 31-year-old centre back spent seven years on Inter’s books across three different spells which saw him crowned a Serie A winner twice, Coppa Italia winner twice and Supercoppa winner once and he recalled one of his memories from his time in Nerazzurri.

“Even though I didn’t play much I won’t forget what Roberto Mancini did for me. He gave me my debut in Serie A and also in Champions league against Rangers.”
Current Inter manager Luciano Spalletti was Andreolli’s boss when he was at Roma and he shared some thoughts on Spalletti.
“He is one of the best both in Italy and abroad. He has a strong character. While I was at Roma we had Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi, Philippe Mexes, Juan and Simone Perrotta and he treated everyone the same. He said that if you have technique and charisma you should give more and be an example to the young players and other players as well.”
