Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi had given his blessing for a transfer to Inter last summer but soon after the deal collapsed.

Gazzetta dello Sport however report that all hope is not lost and there is still a chance the deal could happen again in the summer mercato despite the fact he is getting plenty play time with the Premier League club at the moment.

The 25-year-old is no stranger to Serie A football having spent two seasons with Sampdoria between 2012 and 2014. He joined Arsenal last year and is under contract with the Emirates stadium side for a further four seasons through to 2021. The German returned to action last weekend following six weeks out with a hamstring injury and scored in the Gunners 2-0 North London derby win over rivals Tottenham.

The bottom line is that with expected European commitments next season for the Nerazzurri, be it Champions League or Europa League, Sporting Director Piero Ausilio and Technical Coordinator Walter Sabatini will definitely bring in a new defender for Inter manager Luciano Spalletti.
