Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain could face up to three weeks on the sidelines following his hand injury which will require surgery Doctor Matteo Vitali has revealed.

“Recovery time will be around 2-3 weeks. Pain affects performance and a fall on the fracture could turn this injury into something even more serious. The stance of preserving the player, I believe, is dictated by these assessments,” he told Premium Sport.

Juventus have said the Argentine forward underwent successful surgery on the injury but did not give an expected return date for the 29-year-old.

It is expected that Higuain will certainly miss the Bianconeri’s clash with Napoli at the weekend and will almost certainly miss the Derby D’Italia with Inter the following weekend also.

This season, the former Real Madrid and River Plate striker has found the net eight times in 13 Serie A outings and scored a further two across six more games in other competitions.
