Inter manager Luciano Spalletti is to make a number of changes for the Nerazzurri’s next match with Chievo Verona.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Matias Vecino’s thigh injury will result in Spalletti having to change up his midfield. Borja Valero is likely to be brought back in to a holding midfielder role opposed to playing trequartista and Marcelo Brozovic will partner him. Joao Mario will replace Valero as the trequartista.
Moreover, with Miranda suspended Spalletti will be forced in to making a change at the back. Andrea Ranocchia is likely to partner Milan Skriniar.
One thing that will not change is the formation in which Spalletti deploys his men. The former Roma manager will continue to stick with his tried and tested 4-2-3-1 system despite having to make many changes – something Spalletti has made few off in the past 14 games in Serie A.
Inter welcome Rolando Maran’s Chievo to the San Siro on Sunday afternoon with kick off scheduled for 14:00 local time.
Just no Ranocchia please, no Ranocchia please , no Ranocchia.
No.
people forget how yogatomo become decent player under spalletti and why ranocchia cant? i believe whoever partner skriniar on def will be the best solution spalletti has. just believe on spalletti
Spalletti is a good coach ,possibly a great ,amazing coach but he would not make me into an Inter player tomorrow.
He does a great job but he does not work actual , literal “miracles.
I could see Naga doing some decent / good performances.
He already did ,in the first Mazzarri season Nagatomo was even better than now.
He is fast and he is a hard worker, very well fit and trained.
Ranocchia instead…he is just utterly hopeless , under any aspect.
Base on past performance, young rano was dubbed as next nesta right?:)
Hope he gives Icardi an early rest if we are in control of the game wouldn’t want to risk him getting injured before the biggest game of the season.
I think the choice of players and formation will depend a lot on how chievo are going to be playing. Will they put a lot of pressure knowing fully that there’s an assassin Icardi or defend deeply knowing that we are missing two key defensive players in the midfield and play on counter attacks. Either way Perisic and Candreva will be crucial in both cases for breaking them down and the only thing needed for midfield is balance.
Ranocchia will play fine. We need to give him confidence by trust and support. I predict Ranocchia will score the only goal from the corner for us.
But…Icardi is on his form. He will continue scoring for sure. Remember how Dzeko was transformed drastically?
People worried about our CMs, how about either Santon or D’Ambrosio in there as the defensive minded CM, could offer more balance to midfield than any combination of Brozovic, Mario and Valero?
Javier Zanetti will be the RIGHT answer here if he still plays :D. Brozovic will be taught to play as CM like Nainngolan, but don’t expect too much from him. As long as he doesn’t slide inside the box, Handanovic would be fine.
This will be very tricky or tough match. No one of Brozo, Mario, Valero has defending ability like the tower pair, Gaglia-Vecino. As most of us expect Brozo would be the AM, then Mario Valero as CM, I still have a doubt that this will be a good thing for us since Brozo has better defending ability than both Mario and Valero at least from past few matches. As long as he doesn’t do silly thing and not grumpy as he used to, I think better to put him with Valero in mid. Mario as AM but a bit deeper to help valero brozo in defending phase while supporting killer ball to both winger. If then it was hard to break the score, then might be put Eder/Karamoh as AM.
Seriously, I am more worrying about the midfield than Rano. And I don’t think Valero-Mario pair will work in terms of defensive phase, but I hope it works 😀
Javier Zanetti will be the RIGHT answer here if he still plays. I would put Brozovic as Defensive Midfield because of his frequent sliding tackles. He reminds me of a soft Nainggolan
I agree with this article. Brozo has to start as cm, not amc. Too risky to play Valero and JM the softie in front of Ranocchia,
Agree, it is too risky.
Javier Zanetti will be the RIGHT answer here if he still plays hehehe. Defensive Midfield
Handanovic – Cancelo,Dambrosio,Skriniar,Santon- Borja,Brozovic – Candreva,JMario,Perisic- Icardi
too much change spaleti doesnt like that
He can’t do anything else
will not start cancello over dumbrosio
Dambrosio will be the center back
YES!
Because I love ANY possible defense line up and any possible formation which ends up not putting Ranocchia in the field Sunday.
We only have 3 midfielder left, so starting all of them is big gamble. If I was Spalletti, I would consider 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 with Eder and Icardi as spearhead. As in central, Borja-Mario partnership will make the transition more fluid than anyone with Brozo. But, I hope brozo can show his magic as supersub.
Backup plan: 4-2-3-1 with Candreva as AM and Cancelo/Karamoh as RW, but this is unlikely since we need Candreva deadly cross to serve Icardi.
when everyone says joao mario freezes infront of goal its not true, ever thought he may be looking to make a killer pass, hes a creator not a finisher, he will be the long term replacement for borja so why dont he play that role instead of trequartista
In a midfield 3 I’d prefer to see Brozovic as the trequartista given his eye for goal. Mario played deeper in the Euros for Portugal and was very good, great engine. Hopefully he swaps them around throughought the game like he does with him Valero and Vecino
Agree 100%! Mario is really great in a central midfield spot and Brozo has an eye for goal as an attacking mid – unlike Mario who always freezes in front of goal!
Mario has no eyes for goal..
Maybe he is just going to put them, more on less, on an almost straight line :
Brozo-Valero -JM .
Change the 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 of some sort.
Anyway :
I am not worried about this midfield at all ,it might not have any DM ,but maybe at home versus Chievo more quality in the middle is exactly what we need.
I am only worried about the defense with Ranocchia.
THAT actaully worries me.
Ranocchia is a disaster in my book.
Like Gazzetta knows exactly what’s in Spalletti’s mind.
Not even Spalletti himself knows for sure how he is going to put Inter in the field next Sunday yet..
So happy Miranda got suspended…if he’d played on sunday and gotten suspended for the juve match that would have sucked
Same for gaglia tbh. They will both be fresh and ready to eat
Miranda needed to cool off, especially for rube, honestly 😀
true and he needs to rest
