German national team assistant manager and former Milan forward Oliver Bierhoff spoke on Emre Can and Leon Goretzka’s respective futures in the lead up to the January mercato.
“For sure both Emre Can and Goretzka could be successful in Serie A. However, unless Inter Milan return to the top of Italy, if either of these players had to choose Italy, they would only go to Juventus,” he told Tuttosport in an interview earlier today.
“We are talking about two important players: they will have so many options for the future, these are personal choices to them of course.”
Goretzka in particular has come in to links with Inter in the past and is available to sign on a pre-contract agreement come January 1 due to his contract with Schalke expiring at the end of the current Bundesliga season. Can on the other hand has been oft-linked to Juventus and like Goretzka has a contract which expires at the end of the season.
