Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti spoke in length to Tuttosport on all things Inter earlier today. He first spoke on what Inter need to do if they wish to attempt to win the scudetto and secure Champions League qualification.

“Inter need two or three signings. I am not talking about champions, but some young guys like Roberto Gagliardini, who can grow behind the starters, but at the same time be ready to play when required.

“If Inter wants to fight for the league or be sure about qualifying for the Champions League, they can not leave anything to chance. It is absolutely necessary to bring in reinforcements not for just this season but also for the future. I know the Chinese owners, they are serious people, who have reshaped the club and given certainties. The team is fine but they need to make the team make the next step.”

Berti then discussed Inter’s current manager Luciano Spalletti who has led Inter to an unbeaten start to the season.

“He is a tough coach and the right coach for Inter. I’m also part of those who consider him the best signing made by Nerazzurri this season.”

Berti then spoke on comparisons with current Inter midfielder Matias Vecino.

“Vecino has a long stride like mine, he runs a lot but he has to score a few more goals to be more like me. I’m convinced that if Spalletti had a bigger squad, he would also try to use him in a more attacking position.”
