Former Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia made his first start of the season for Inter today and gave a good account of himself playing a sensible game in defence and had at least 3 good goalscoring chances to score himself.

After the game he spoke to Premium Sport about the match stating that “we played a great game today, but the path is long and we must carry on like this. We must keep our heads down, keep working hard, train and all be constructive for the team. We are all training well at the moment. In my many years here at the club I have seen everything but a cohesion like this years I have never seen. It is a good omen. It’s a long road but those who play always make sure they are ready & prepared. We are pleased, but now a big game awaits us.”

The former Bari defender spoke about his coach Spalletti revealing that “he was crucial for me in deciding to stay & fight for a place. With him & his staff you improve even without playing. I am pleased & hope to be able to continue to make an important contribution for these colours. Spalletti treats us all the same. He has no children or stepchildren we are all equal to him, Inter players. This drives everyone on to improve for the good of the group. We must continue like this. We don’t need to lose our heads but I know that the manager will continue to motivate everyone, because this what he does. There is no one better placed to say this than me, as I have been out of the team for a long time. I’m not talking about the past but the situation now is this. Everyone who plays knows exactly what they have to do, we are working well on an athletic level as well as with the ball. We can only do well the season is still long and anything can and will happen. We just need to continue to remain a solid group even when we have a negative patch.”

Ranocchia concluded by revealing some details of their training: “we work on the details, sectors, they look at the feet, soon maybe even the fingers [jokes] but for us defenders these concepts are even more important.”
