Valencia’s leadership plan to please manager Marcelino by redeeming Geoffrey Kondogbia according to Spanish outlet Marca.

Marcelino has stressed to his superiors that the Frenchman is a key element to his current side and exercising their redemption option would ensure that they remain competitive next season when they hope to be participating on the Champions League.

Qualification for the Champions League would as good as finance the move for the 24-year-old, who arrived in a loan swap deal in the summer with Joao Cancelo heading the other way to Inter.

Kondogbia has returned to the performance levels that lead to Inter forking out €40 million for him and as a result has attracted interest from a number of other clubs including North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham. Despite the interest, Kondogbia has continually stressed his desire to remain at the Mestalla.

He has made 12 appearances this season, scoring three and assisting once and become a real fans favourite.
