Former Inter player Nicola Berti spoke on Inter’s continued good start to the season after they extended their unbeaten run to 16 games over the weekend.
“I would say that Inter started on the right foot. If we are up there after the first two match days after the winter break, we can cause everyone problems. Inter are a solid, strong team,” he told Radio Rai 1.
Berti was then asked who he preferred between historic goalkeeping great Walter Zenga and Inter’s modern day goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
“Walter is historic, Handanovic is a phenommenon.”
He then shared his thoughts on the 0-0 Derby D’Italia draw from the weekend.
“Looking at the game the other night, I noticed that Icardi remains isolated up top. There is still a lot to improve, the margins to improve are there even though they are first in the standings. It was not a great game but Inter defended well.”
He concluded the interview by discussing the upcoming January mercato.
“Inter will probably opt to sign 2-3 young and strong Italian players.”
I agree, but were still missing a superstar, i mean yeah we have icardi but icardi is up top doing nothing unless someone gives him a good ball, we need a superstar midfield, i would wait until the summer to splash some major cash on a big name midfield, i would love coutinho back but i doubt that would happen, we need a good trequarista bad
Yep a quality central midfield, a general who can dictate play and can stabilise our build up play is needed plus a quality attacking midfielder to open up play up front
I think in January we should get a good mid and a center back and then in the summer get a huge attacking mid, were still missing that couple steps to be on the same level with the best clubs in the world.
We sure do, and with injury to Icardi/Perisic even Candreva we´re fucked…
Oh yeah, I had this discussion with my friend the their day and he goes if Icardi got hurt inter would suffer and it’s true, we have no backups
Nope we have Eder in stead of Icardi and Pinamonti but Pina surely doesn’t seem ready yet. But we´re f..ked if Perisic or CAndreva gets hurt too…
I wish we could get someone like Koke or Ascensio even
Agree with him – seeing us against one of the strongest sides in Europe made everyone realize the huge need for quality in especially midfield. If we want to keep possession against the greatest teams and not just defend that´s the area we need quality players in: central midfield and attacking midfield. Plus Santon (whom I don’t understand why is getting so much playing time by Spalletti) showed that he isn’t good enough for the highest level and never will, but DALBERT was great in the 15-20 minutes he got when coming on. He stopped Cuadrado totally when he stepped on the pitch. Hopefully Dalbert will show us again tonight that he´s finally ready for playing at our left hand side.
I like and want Dalbert to get more chances, but my queation is, when Dalbert came in may be Cuadrado was a bit tired?
But I want Dalbert to be our first choice and then Santon.
Nagatomo to be third choice
Don’t know if he was tired, but you clearly could see Dalbert did well when he came on unlike the very unsure Santon who was lost against Cuadrodo all game
I mean you cant compare santon running with cuadrado from the start than dalbert coming in later in the game, also we put gagliardini in so our mid was more pact, but dalbert did good in my opinion and would like to see him start.
I know and you’re right – I just want Dalbert to be a success. I think he has everything to become a class act left back for and really can’t see the big light in Santon
I want dalbert to be a success too, weve seen glimps of his talent and his potential can be huge, hes got the pace, hes got some skill, can pass, his defensive work can use some work but hes young and he can be great, i cant wait to watch him today
Him, karamoh and pinamonti all today
We can improve A BIT.
Yes.
But to improve.. A LOT ..I am afraid we need something important to come in January’s open transfer window.
