The former Romania and Inter defender Cristian Chivu, who will be working as a commentator for Fox Sports in Italy during their coverage of the FIFA World Club Championship, recalled his win in the tournament with Inter back in 2010.

“It is an important trophy because it gives you confidence after winning the UEFA Champions League. Winning makes you feel better.”

When asked to draw comparisons between his former Inter coach, Jose Mourinho and the current manager of the Nerazzurri, Luciano Spalletti (who was also his coach at Roma) he said “they are both great managers, they transmit an overwhelming desire to win throughout the squad. I think the results speak for themselves; for Mourinho who has won a lot and for Spalletti too.”

The FIFA Club World Cup is currently being played out in the United Arab Emirates with current holders and UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid, being the favourites to retain the trophy.
