Gremio’s Arthur has been on Inter’s radar for the past couple of weeks and acquiring him has become a lot more difficult according to reports.
Calciomercato.com report that the Brazilian midfielder has also attracted interest from Spanish giants Barcelona. Barcelona officials have been in contact with Arthur’s representatives and it is something that has angered the leaders of Gremio, who were recently crowned the Copa Libertadores champions.
The Brazilian top flight club are adamant that they will only allow the 21-year-old, who has also drawn interest from reigning Premier League champions Chelsea, to depart the club if his €50 million release clause is met in full.
As a result of Gremio’s stance, Barcelona are now seeking out alternative targets. Inter’s interest meanwhile has cooled due to the fact they, like Barcelona, are unwilling to pay the aforementioned clause.
This season, Arthur has appeared in 39 games for the Porto Alegre based club and got on the score sheet once and has just as many assists.

He is 20 million at most.
Well since they believe he is worth €50 mil then it shouldn’t be a problem to loan him for year long loan and buy him if his that good if they don’t won to let them sell him for 25 mil somewhere else
We have Torreira in hand for 25m, why do we still have to chase this 50m-guy??
Because Arthur really looks like a guy who can become world class. But if he will cost 50 millions he is too costly for Inter. Right now the club doesn´t have enough room in its finances to pay that much for one player who hasn´t even proven himself in Europe. Actually Inter has about zero euros for transfer market right now and Gremio will not be accepting a loan. I really like this guy however and I believe he will be great.
I´d really like us to get Torreira, but there will be many interested teams who are willing pay that 25 millions for him. It will not be a walk in the park to sign him.
I watch Arthur only from youtube, and everybody knows almost all player on youtube are looked classy. I remember Lucas Silva in terms of young brazilian phenomena. He’s out nowhere and far from the performance of people hype for. In case of safe investment, I prefer to choose player that proven on Serie A (if there is) rather than high-potential player who’s origin from a country of football talent.
In addition, our club has two advantageous conditions factors in terms of signing Torreira. First, our good relationship with the club owner, so we could request for being able to be first option. Second, we have his national teammate that play regularly as starter.
Pretty much everytime you sign from Brazilian league it is a risk, that´s true. I think this Arthur guy is worth going for and as a club owner who has money I´d sign him. Lucas Silva looked good in Cruzeiro, because he had so much space. I don´t think I´m blinded by youtube with Arthur. Last Brazilian I liked was Gabriel Jesus, his touch on the ball was special. Gabigol looked like shit even in youtube. This Arthur has ball control that is of real high quality. He seems to have brains also. Of course I´m no oracle, but I think I see something special in him. For sure he can flop or end up average, but you just gotta take the chance.
I agree with you that buying from Italian league is safer and that Torreira is the safer option. I do still think that Arthur has the potential to be better than Torreira who is great. If we get either of these two I´d be super happy. Inter directors have kind of good relationship with Ferreiro, but we are not his preferred club – that is Roma and he has said it himself. He sells to the highest bidder, our relationship with him is nothing special. And anyways if any club activates the release clause it is up to the player to decide. With high probability there will be Atletico Madrid (rumored), Rube etc. and those both clubs mentioned have Uruguayan players.
You seem have good eyes on scouting south american talent, I suggest you to propose yourself to be one on Dario Baccin’s scouting team. Haha
Let’s hope Torreira apparently would realize he could has his regular spot on Inter line-up as Borja’s heir. His style of playing reminds me in the middle of Verratti and Kante, I like it. And, Arthur is a dream. If only our president is still Moratti, I’m pretty sure he would go all in for this guy.
Anw, nice discussion with you mate. Inter amala!!
Haha, I wouldn´t probably be much of a scout. Millions of people saw that G. Jesus is gonna be something etc. If I could tell from the less hyped guys that they will be the next Milinkovic-Savic or whatever then I should probably consider applying. And I might be wrong as fuck about Arthur anyways, it´s just my feeling and it´s fun to predict what young guy could make it and who might not. Let´s hope we get Torreira, because he´s a damn good player. Have a good weekend and let´s kick some Udinese ass tomorrow!
yea agree..I do like this guy, how he play with a great vision is my reason, i say yes 100x for 25-30m.
Agreed. 25-30 mil is somewhat reasonable. 50 mil is a sick sum for a guy who plays in Brazil.
